| Culture and art play an important role in our life. They help us to express ideas, feelings and emotions, to realize creative abilities and talents. There are various kinds of art. Most of them appeared thousands years ago and some of them are new. Such arts as painting, music and dance appeared in prehistoric times. The history of theatre began in ancient Greece. Cinematography appeared at the end of the 19th century. I’d like to tell about some kinds of art. Painting is one of the oldest arts. Painting gives us information about the time when the artist lived. Pictures can tell about traditions and interests of people of the past. Music is also one of the oldest arts. Many ancient peoples used music in their religious ceremonies. Nowadays there are two main kinds of music: classical and popular. Music is closely connected with dance. There re are such kinds of dance as classical, folk, contamporary. One of the most complex arts is theatre. It needs many specialists for its productions. There are such kinds of theatres as drama theatres, musical theatres, puppet theatres, opera and ballet theatres. Личная информация: I can say that art is really part of my life. | Our life is impossible without reading. Reading helps us in our education. Regular reading gives the knowledge of the world and helps to form our character. Reading is also one of the most popular hobbies. We read for pleasure and relaxation. So, reading gives us emotions and information. The first books appeared in ancient times and the first libraries also appeared hundreds years ago The word “library” comes from the Latin word “liber” and means "a book". This is a place where information in various forms is collected and arranged. Early libraries were used only by scientists and were few. Many old university libraries have rich collections of books: Oxford and Cambridge in England, Harvard and Yale in the United States. But then more and more libraries appeared and ordinary people began to use them. A system of public libraries appeared in the 19th century in many countries. Nowadays the largest and best known libraries in the world are: the British National Library in London, the US Library of Congress in Washington and the State Public Library in Moscow. The State Public Library was founded in 1862 and has unique collections of books. Today the library is a centre of all kinds of information. In the modern libraries you can find books, newspapers, periodicals, documents, maps, CDs and DVDs. In some libraries you can also get access to their electronic resources or the Internet. Most libraries have a professionally educated staff. Librarians select books and other materials, organize materials, answer questions about facts, people, events, or advise you how to find the information. There are many libraries in our city. Большинство библиотек имеет профессионально образованный штат. Библиотекари отбирают книги и другие материалы, систематизируют материалы, отвечают на вопросы о фактах, людях, событиях или советуют вам, как найти информацию. В нашем городе много библиотек. Самая большая – Областная научная библиотека имени Добролюбова. |
