Biography

Alex Ostrowski, Pfizer

Prior to Pharmaceuticals worked in food manufacturing specializing in FDA audits and compliance. Worked closely with Research and Development to design new products and establish automation projects under HACCP requirements. Exited this industry to further seek education and experience in areas of interest; specifically, statistics and programming. Worked as a Data Analyst Manager, with a team of 14 direct reports, at another large Pharmaceutical company prior to joining Pfizer. Since joining Pfizer, he has worked on multiple assets in the Rare Disease, Biosimilars, and Hospital Brands team space.

Earned dual master’s degree from Villanova in Statistics and Mathematics and currently teach in the evening at Penn State University.

Joseph Cappelleri, Pfizer

Joseph C. Cappelleri earned his MS in statistics from the City University of New York (Baruch College), PhD in psychometrics from Cornell University, MPH in epidemiology from Harvard University. Dr. Cappelleri is an executive director of biostatistics in the Statistical Research and Data Science Center at Pfizer Inc, where he is the recipient of the Craig A. Saxton Clinical Development Excellence Award and partners with colleagues in Patient & Health Impact and Medical Affairs. As an adjunct professor, he has served on the faculties at Brown University (biostatistics), Tufts Medical Center (medicine), and the University of Connecticut (statistics). He has co-authored approximately 1000 external presentations and 500 publications on clinical and methodological topics, including on regression-discontinuity designs, meta-analysis, and health measurement scales. Dr. Cappelleri is the lead author of the book “Patient-Reported Outcomes: Measurement, Implementation and Interpretation” and has co-authored or co-edited three other books (one on subgroup design and analysis, one on Phase II clinical development of new drugs, and another on health economics and outcomes research). He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

David Gruben, Pfizer

David’s career has focused on working in diseases involving inflammation, cardiovascular, gastro-intestinal and dermatology that are investigated in randomized, clinical trials. Most recently he is supporting the Pfizer medication used in treating inflammation and gastro-intestinal diseases in terms of market access, that is, approval by countries throughout the world. This involves post-hoc analyses of clinical trial data, as well as analyses of new data to be found in treatment registries, and data based on payment records that insurance companies keep. This is for answering questions that arise in the real-world treatment of patients. These kinds of analyses pave the way for next generation of medications that Pfizer may be developing in these indications.

In addition to Pfizer Davis has worked at two major pharmaceutical companies and one medical school. Ph.D. from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
