Binaya Krsna Not doomed at all. I had a bag that I'd kept my stuff in, books, beads, karatals, etc. The bag was stolen. I was also devastated. I acquired new beads and put them on my alter and asked Srila Gurudeva to please chant on my new beads. I sat in front the picture of Gurudeva with the beads in front him and chanted a round. Srila Gurudeva is omniscient and omnipotent.
The mantras and Harinama cannot be taken away by losing our beads.

Isa Dasa Jayanti dasi Srila Gurudeva said there may come a time when someone cuts out your tongue, smashes your Deities and even cuts off your arms so you can't chant. He continued then you will have nothing except your heart connection with Gurudeva and Krsna.

Krishna Rose Madhav Ananda Gurudev told me personally when he gave me beads in Mathura 1996, that "I still have the beads my Guru Maharaja gave me more than 50 years ago, you should never lose your beads you should think they are closer to you than your own soul". I am SO careful with mine, like there's nothing more precious in the world to me than my beads.

Jayanti Dasi I was in Navadwipa and my beads had been around my neck all day while I was out and about, going to various holy places and when I got back to where I was staying, the beads were just not in the bag anymore. I was sooooo devastated 😭 😭 😭

Krishna Rose We all struggle, but so long as we hold onto the umbilical cord, eventually the struggle will go.... the struggle is when we don't make that daily effort.... when we make the daily effort, it is no longer a struggle..... because we are nourished by him.... at least that's my experience :)

Gurudeva memories: That fateful last year of our Gurudev's life here on earth, there was a surprise, out of the blue, change in Gurudev's schedule, for him to come to Orlando, Florida for a few days. Very few people knew he was coming here, and there was only a small entourage of people traveling with him. It would be one of the last times I saw Gurudev. I dreamt of him the night before we were due to leave to see him, in the dream I ran to his feet and threw myself on the ground like a stick (how the men do dandavats) before him on his feet, totally overwhelmed with happiness to see him. I awoke at 3am, and urgently woke my family earlier than planned and said “Gurudeva wants us to come now, let us leave”. So we crawled out of bed in the dead of night and drove fast to Sunita’s house in Orlando where Gurudeva was staying.

When we arrived there, the mood was so sweet! There were very few devotees around, it reminded me of the ‘old days’ when Gurudeva was so accessible. Gurudeva was sitting on a swing chair by the pool in the back yard, and I was very anxious to see him as I felt so much anticipation to see him after this dream, and I didn’t know how I would control myself to behave ‘properly’ when all I wanted was to throw myself on the floor before him and cry my tears of joy. I walked around the devotees sitting before him, and when he saw me he sat up and his face lit up, he motioned for us to come around to the front to see him. When I got there I knelt at his feet and grabbed his soft and fragile arm and started massaging his right arm down to his hand telling him “I have missed you so much, I love you Gurudeva”, eye to eye, in that moment there was no block between us, he was so happy, and so was I.

That day our daughter Nayana Wing who was only 10 years old at the time had been saying all morning that she would ask for Diksha initiation from Gurudev. She had been chanting non-stop for days in preparation for asking him for Diksha (2nd initiation). When she saw Gurudeva she asked him, and he paused a moment, looked at her carefully and agreed. No mention of “how many rounds”, just “yes I want to give”. In that moment I knew Gurudeva would be leaving us soon. I felt he gave our daughter Nayana this mercy because he knew he would not see her again. It was extremely emotional for me. Since that day our daughter has diligently chanted her Mantra's every day, she is strong in this, she has faith in this, and I am so grateful to know that our daughter is safe in Gurudev's pocket forever.

Everyone left that darshan and only Gurudeva remained swinging in his chair by the pool taking sun. I sat inside the house alone, looking out of the open patio door watching my Gurudeva, chanting Hari Nam with tears pouring down my face. I was already in deep separation mood, as I knew in my heart I would not see him again. I was sobbing deeply. Then Gurudev looked over at me, and saw me watching him and he looked quite 'displeased' with me, I thought perhaps I had ‘invaded’ his private quiet time and I felt so bad. So I moved away from the open door and sat in the room, turning my body to face the empty fish tank against the wall, and so I continued my chanting, giving Gurudev his 'space'. Then I saw that I could still see him in the reflection of the glass fish tank which was in front of me. So happily I continued crying and chanting looking at Gurudeva, yet still giving him his space. Then he looked right at me through the reflection in the glass and laughed, chuckling and smiling at me! It was too sweet for words.

Gurudev really seemed to appreciate it when our moods would come out towards him in sweet and crooked ways. He also would always reciprocate like this, I have shared so many examples of this.

Jayanti Dasi Sweet! I think later that day was when I met him for the very first time. He gave me the name Jayanti, in that house, and fed my son his first grains. Next day we came back and he just offered me diksa, but I thought I wasn't ready and I refused. Luckily, I managed to get to Badger a few weeks later and then I got diksa initiation from him, by then I realized it was my last opportunity. Gurudeva was so merciful, he never checked to see if I was qualified, just stuck me in his pocket, as you said. So so sweet. 💖 💖 💖 💖

Acyutananda Dasa We are all so blessed to have him touch our lives. How rare is the divine association of Srila Gurudeva. Would do it all over again for a million births in an instant. Only way to repay is to serve him and serve our sadhana/bhajan practice.

Gurudeva memories: When I was staying with Gurudev in Keshavji Gaudiya Math, I had to make plans to take a train to Jammu, in Kashmir (Himalayan mountains) to see my Grandfather and other family members. I was feeling very sad to leave Gurudev, and worried about when I would see him again. Gurudev told me "You should think that your Gurudev is always with you, he never leaves you, not for a second, you should have unshakable faith in this". "Gurudeva, this is so sweet, but how can I practically feel this in my distracted life?" I asked him. He thought for a minute and then leaned in towards me and said quietly "do you have faith in me?", "yes Gurudev of course!" I replied enthusiastically. "Then you should have full faith in my words, because there is no one who is closer to you than your Gurudev is. Your life is mine now, and I am carefully and expertly managing your life from now forward, you should have full faith in what I have said".

From then on, I never felt like Gurudev was not with me. Even now, it has been so many years since I last physically saw him present before me, yet I feel as close to him now, as if I had just seen him one week ago. He is present in our mantra's, especially our Guru-gayatri, if we chant word for word, knowing the hidden meanings of these mantra's, when we meditate, Gurudev is really there.

If we get in a taxi in New York city, and don't tell the driver where to go, and we sit in the back seat and chant for 2 hours, and then the driver stops, gives us a bill, and we open the door and notice we have driven around for two hours, and gone no where, we are back at square one again. Chanting is like this.

First we should fix our mind on the goal, on what it is we wish to achieve from this sacrifice of our time and energy. If we chant letting our minds go, like this taxi driver, wherever it wants, then we go no where, and we experience nothing. But, if we tell the mind, "I want to go to Vrindavan", or "I want to see Gurudev", then with this fixed mind, we sit and we use our minds to meditate, using mantra, and mixing it with mind, then adding our love - then like a perfect blend of ingredients surely the result is something relishable for us!

Gurudeva is always with us. He said it, and therefore it is so.

Gurudev memories on how to perform Bhajan: Gurudev explained that mantra's are a vehicle to bring our minds and hearts to that place where our meditation wants / needs to go. So first there must be a desire for that goal, this is the first element, the second element is faith that we can indeed attain that goal through recitation of the mantra, third is faith in your Gurudev, that he actually present fully in our Guru mantra. Gurudev explained that when our heart is in what we do, that he will be there to make sure our simple offerings of love attain the unreachable. As an example, if we are offering food on the altar and we pray using the mantra's your Gurudev has given you for offering, then with our mind we take the offering to Gurudev, and Gurudev said "you chant the mantra's and go through motions with your heart, and do the process of making an offering, but actually I will take to Srimati Radhika and She will offer it to Krishna". Gurudev told us that actually the Manjari's do not offer things using mantra's, everything is done there using only the power of love. Therefore we should understand, that these mantra's, are NOT the crux of the matter, they are the vehicle which brings our consciousness into the association of our Guru-Sakhi who will then perform the actual offering for us. Gurudev further explained to us that offering by using mantra alone is useless. If the heart and mind are not invested in what we do then it is quite useless, although of course some purification may be there just based on the strength of following rules and regulations. But this is Vaidhi Bhakti. Love is the special ingredient that must be mixed with the ingredients of mantra, in order for the offering to be carried into any success. This also applies in our sadhan process too. If we chant mindlessly, without our heart and mind focused on the goal of Vrindavan (the Kingdom of God), then it is a process only with no fruit. Gurudev said we could chant like this for thousands of lives!!!! But if when we sit to chant, we invest four ingredients then we will have successful chanting. 1. The mantra itself; 2. Love; 3. Mindful meditation on the goal; 4. Faith that surely I will attain the goal;

Gurudev gave a wonderful example of this when describing how Arjuna would shoot an arrow. During archery lessons, the five Pandava brothers were asked by their teacher "what do you see?" when looking at the goal (where the arrow will shoot). Arjuna's brothers described to their teacher "I see the bird in the tree", "I see the tree, and the bird sitting on a branch in the tree" etc... but Arjuna saw only BLACK - the eye of the pupil of the bird that he was aiming at. He didn't see the tree, he didn't see the branches of the tree, he didn't even see the bird, he only saw the black in the pupil of the eye. Gurudev said this is how we should use our mind at time of chanting any mantra. We are offering not just useless words, but actually our very selves on the platter of love.

I offer my heart like thousands of flower petals at the lotus feet of my beloved Diskha Guru Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja, who has brought me to my knees in submission to the most high. I am forever yours Gurudev, I trust you, I believe in you, I have full faith in you as my Guru, that you are slowly but surely, making me qualified to serve the lotus feet of our Supreme Goddess, Sri Radha, and for this, I am so grateful, with my tears, I entreat you, to please never forget this fallen wretched materialistic daughter of yours.

A few of my dearest God-brothers and God-sisters have become enamored by one Babaji at Radha-Kund - here is what our Gurudev has said about him -

Be Careful of Radha Kunda Babajis Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja Holland, 10.6.2001

Be careful of Radha Kunda babajis. They accept Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu. One babaji has written so many books – Raghunatha dasa, Rupa Gosvami and Prabhodananda Sarasvati. The babajis are Gaudiyas but they don’t accept Madhvacarya. This is their first blunder, and they don’t accept our branch coming from Bhaktivinoda Thakura. They also think that Prabhodananda Sarasvati and Prakasananda Sarasvati are the same person – but this is absurd. They don’t give proper respect to Jiva Gosvami – they say he supports svakiya-bhava and does not accept parakiya-bhava – this is a big blunder. But actually Jiva Gosvami has written that parakiya is in Vraja and svakiya is in Dvaraka because he is rupanuga. Babajis are bogus and they cannot reconcile Jiva Gosvami’s position. Jiva Gosvami has written in line of tattva – gopés are Krsna’s svakiya; they are Krsna’s shakti so they are not parakiya in tattva. They are not wives of any gopas; they are Kåñëa’s own. But in line of rasa-tattva Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura explains that by Yogamaya the gopis are the wives of others to increase rasa.
Atma-rasa: eka rasa (one flavor). Krsna is atma-rasa. He is always atmarama, aptakama. He is self-satisfied. Shakti and shaktimana are one. Para-rasa: aneka-rasa (many flavors). Gopis have speciality to increase rasa for Krsna. He wants to taste so many moods of all gopis – this is parakiya. Visvanatha Cakravarti actually proved that Jiva Gosvami accepted parakiya-rasa but he has written promoting svakiya for unqualified persons.
Babajis do not accept Baladeva Vidyabhusana in our line – because babajis reject Madhvacarya. We do not accept that Mahaprabhu was mayavadi. He simply accepted red cloth from a mayavadi. Ramanuja and Madhva also accepted sannyasa from mayavadis. But Mahaprabhu took gopala mantra from Isvara Puri. How can we not accept Baladeva Vidyabhusana in our sampradaya? He saved our sampradaya in Jaipur when Radharani had been taken away from Govinda-deva.
Babajis say it is out of our sampradaya to accept red cloth – sannyasa. Madhavendra Puri, Isvara Puri and their whole line wore red cloth. Also Svarupa Damodara wore red cloth. Red means not a widow, having a beloved. White cloth means widow – no beloved. So many of Mahaprabhu’s associates wore red cloth. Krsnadasa Kaviraja authenticates sannyasa.
Where does the term ‘babaji’ come from? It does not come in our line. Only Sanatana Gosvami was called bara baba and Rupa Gosvami was called chota baba. Sanatana Gosvami did not take red cloth because he said, “Mahaprabhu is so high, so out of respect, I cannot wear red cloth.” But he worshiped red cloth. Babajis became so bogus, wearing white because they were so degraded – that is why Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura took red cloth again.
Babajis say that Bhaktivinoda Thakura has no proper guru so he is not to be accepted. Bhaktivinoda was in Bhagavat-parampara.
If you read their translations – Vilapa Kusumanjali, Radha Rasa Sudha Nidhi, Krsna Bhavanamrta – some poison may come – very dangerous.
Babajis give siddha pranali to any newcomer who may be totally unqualified. Then one just falls into lusty ways.
First read Jaiva Dharma, Upadesamrta, Manah Siksa and learn all tattvas. Otherwise you will fall down. Devotees in France have no guru-nistha. They read all these rasika books and have left Swamiji and mix with divorcees and widows.

A few days later Gurudeva ended his class saying: "I have not read all these books that you have. I know that you all have copies of Govinda Lilamrta and Krsna Bhavanamrta. All translated by those who have fallen into lust and are going to Naraka. So start from the beginning and follow properly in our line. But you are all independent to do as you like."

Isa Dasa Vice President of Sri Gaudiya Vedanta
Samiti and Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti Trust

My dear disciples of Alachua,

My heartly blessings are for you. All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga, all glories to Sri Sri Radha Vinode Bihariji.

I received your letter and became very happy to read the contents. I am looking forward to meet with you when I come to USA and hope that you will be with me in Badger. Please know that my health is gradually improving. I will take rest up to Badger and I should be alright by the time that the festival in Badger starts. At present I am residing on the shore of the Indian Ocean in Malaysia. Today I took bath in the ocean for the first time after my operation. This is the best medicine for me.

In regard to your concerns that is shared by the devotees in Alachua, yes there is no need to go to the babajis. The fortunate living entity who has accepted a bona fide spiritual master in the line of Srila Rupa Gosvami, he has nothing to gain in Krishna consciousness by associating with the babajis. I have explained all the deviations of the babajis in Sri Prabanda Panchakam. Please study this carefully with the devotees that have any doubts in this regard.
