Предлоги, которые необходимы при описании фотографии на английском языке:
- above — над (= over)
The woman is holding an umbrella above her head.
- under — под (= below)
The people are sitting under the tree.
- near — около

Запомните:
- in the sky — на небе
- in the rain — под дождем (как бы внутри дождя)
- in the sun — под солнцем (в солнечном свете)
Также, если вы говорите о том, что изображено НА картине или фотографии, надо употреблять предлог IN: in the picture, in the photo, in — в (внутри)
There are a lot of birds in the tree. — Надеревемногоптиц.
Но говоря о плодах и листьях, надо употреблять предлог ON:
- on the tree
- on the bush
Грамматические конструкции, используемые при описании фотографии на английском языке
- there is / are (конструкция местонахождения)
- the Present Continuous Tense при описании фотографии (при описании фотографий глаголы обычно ставятся в настоящее длительное время)
- модальные глаголы can, could, may, might в значении предположения
- действительные и страдательные причастия (a flying seagull — летящая чайка, a fallen tree — упавшее дерево)
- who, which, whose идр. (относительные местоимения и придаточные определительные предложения)
Примеры употребления придаточных определительных предложений:
- I see a girl who is running around her mother. — Явижудевочку, которая бегаетвокругсвоеймамы.
- I brought home the shell which I had found on the beach. — Япринесдомойраковину, которую нашелнапляже.
- I see a dog whose master is reading a newspaper. — Явижусобаку, чей хозяинчитаетгазету.
Пример описания фотографии
Вводнаяфраза: Well, I would like to start with a general description.
Чтоизображено: This photo (picture) shows a seaside resort (морскойкурорт) in summer. The weather is hot that’s why the beach is full of people.
Детали: There are no clouds in the sky and it looks light blue. Аs for the sea, it is a bit rough, I can see the waves, so the light wind is probably blowing.
In the foreground just a bit to the right there is a big merry-go-round. I can guess that a lot of children are riding horses there. They may be laughing, shouting, in other words, they are having fun.
Another kind of attraction is situated to the left of the first one. It looks smaller and at first sight you can suppose that it is a merry-go-round, too. But if you look closer, you can see that it might be a kiosk with some food or souvenirs because people are standing around probably looking for something to buy.
The beach is very crowded. The people are lying on the sand and swimming in the sea.

I have chosen the first photo. (Начинать с этой фразы лучше всего. У вас появляются лишние три секунды, а экзаменатору сразу становится понятно, что вы будете описывать.)
I took this photo when we were having a family dinner at my grandparent’s house last winter. That is how we usually spend weekends during the winter time so I have at least a dozen other similar photos.
In this photo you can see all my brothers and sisters, and my grandparents as well. They look happy as the dinner has already started and it is absolutely delicious. There is lots of food, the room is dimply lit and atmosphere is very cozy.
As I have already mentioned, we are having dinner in this picture. What is more, we are talking, discussing some school issues and having fun. Well, it is not shown in the picture, but I had taken it a few seconds before mother brought in a delicious turkey.
The reason why I keep this photo is because I really love my family and I adore such evenings. We gather together, share some school stories and enjoy ourselves. Another reason for keeping the photo is the opportunity of recollecting those memories any time I need it.
I wanted to share this picture with you because as far as I know you are going to have some family weekend soon, so I would like to remind you how important and pleasant it is to keep such sweet memories.
