A poem by W. Shakespeare .

He that is your friend indeed

He will help you in the need.

If you sorrow, he will weep.

If you wake, he cannot sleep.

Thus of every grief in heart

He with you does bear a part.

These are certain signs to know

Faithful friend from flattering foe.

The English poet William Blake (1757-1827) wrote:

I was angry with my friend.

I told my wrath, my wrath did end.

I was angry with my foe.

I told it not; my wrath did grow.

Can you explain the meaning of the poem? (wrath = anger, foe = enemy)

Do you agree with the idea?

My University

Mari State Technical University

Mari State Technical University, where I am at my first year now, is one of two state universities located in Yoshkar-Ola. It was founded in 1932 as Povolzhskiy Forestry Engineering Institute and then reorganized into Mari Polytechnic Institute named after M. Gorky.

In 1982 for the services of training highly skilled specialists for national economy the institute was awarded with the Order of People's Friendship and was named Mari Awarded with the Order of People's Friendship Polytechnic Institute named after M. Gorky.

Nowadays there are 10 departments at MarSTU and more than 11 thousand students from all parts of Russia. Among over 50 thousand alumni of the University there are famous people, including governors and heads of large enterprises.

The university is very well equipped – it has modern classrooms and laboratories in 5 study buildings of the university.

Far beyond Russia people know about the Multimedia Systems laboratory where they develop CD and DVD with electronic educational resources (their "Virtual Chemistry laboratory" became the award-winner at the International exhibition in Cannes in France).

Among other university attractions is our own botanical garden - a unique "live laboratory" for scientific research. Our scientific library has a stock of over 1 million textbooks and training manuals,

There are some hostels where students from other regions live; modern sports complex; theatre-studio; club of merry and witty; chamber choir; studio of classical and pop music.

Now I am studying at Faculty of Information Technologies and Computer Engineering. The Dean of our department is Irina G. Sidorkina. There are 3 Chairs in our department.

My speciality is Information Security, Computer Engineering, Programming.

The staff of the department does profound developments upon Russian and foreign companies requests. Among those are the creation of multimedia and hypermedia systems, protected local computing systems, teaching programs including those for distant education, automated control systems, techniques and facilities for image sensing in artificial intelligence systems, and software tools.

The Department possesses excellent facilities for studies. Research work inclines students to take a post graduate course and there is a specialized Dissertation Board.

I have made many friends at university. I think when I complete my studies, I will have an excellent education, and I will be an experienced specialist in my field. I believe this university can help me open the wide horizons in my life and find the best place in the world.
