This proverb just means that there is nothing like a pressing and urgent need for setting people to work to find a way of meeting it. If we could get all we want from nature we should not bother to invent anything; as we can’t, we are forced to find out ways and means to satisfy our needs.
In the early days of mankind, the necessity of communicating with one another led men to the invention of languages. Later, the necessity of keeping some record of what they did or said led to the invention of writing. Later still, the necessity of spreading news and knowledge led to the invention of printing.
When man felt hungry, he started hunting and till land. The need for shelter lead the man to built huts and houses. The need for quick travel resulted in the invention of the fastest means of transport, making the world short. At the time of necessity, the human mind, which is creative and imaginative, thinks in a very quick manner.
As new needs arise, fresh methods are devised to meet them New plans are hatched to find solutions to different problems. Necessity makes us bold, zealous and eager enough to fulfil our needs. Necessity is a blessing in disguise.
What is impossible in the world? Man can achieve anything he wants provided he puts in hard labour and sincere efforts. Where there is a will there is a way. Constant efforts do bear fruit. Where there is any necessity, there is some invention, some research, in order to fulfil that necessity. All our inventions and discoveries are the direct result of our pressing needs.

Most people go to work every day, get stuck on a treadmill, live ordinary lives and hardly ever think about their future
The life story of Steve Jobs, a great entrepreneur and a dreamer, can probably serve as the best example. Steve Jobs is one of the most successful businessmen of the 21st century. He was always interested in learning new things and his biggest dream was to change the world for the better and to create something really significant. Being really inspired by that, he had worked hard for many years and finally he started his own company which soon became successful and powerful. However, one day he was let down by people he trusted and he had to leave the company he had founded. It's hard to imagine how he felt, having been forced to leave behind the best thing he had. It must have been devastating for him. Nevertheless, he somehow managed to think everything over and started working again. Soon enough not only did he start a new company but became even more well-known and wealthy than he had been before. One might ask what helped him get up after such a dramatic fall. That was due to his dream. Even though his old dream had been destroyed, he managed to find a better one which was worth living and fighting for. Thus, having left the past behind he strove for the better future and it would be an understatement to say that he simply succeeded in that.
This story isn't about fame, wealth or power, as one might think. It teaches us that sometimes the best you can do is to let the past go and find something worth living for in the future and never give up on your dreams. We shouldn’t stop believing in ourselves. No matter what happens in the present, the future still remains and it’s in everyone’s power to make it better.
