Progressive (Continuous) Tenses
Времена группы Progressive (Continuous) обозначают действие
В определенный момент речи в настоящем, прошедшем и будущем.
Они могут употребляться с такими показателями времени, как:
now (right now) – (прямо) сейчас;
at this moment (в данный момент);
all day long (весь день);
all day yesterday/tomorrow (весь день вчера/завтра);
at 6 o’clock (в 6 часов);
from 5 till 7 (с пяти до 7) и т. д.
Продолженные времена характеризуются наличием составного сказуемого, состоящего из вспомогательного глагола to be в любом времени, числе, лице и Participle I (Причастия Первого) в виде смыслового глагола с суффиксом - (V + ing):
to be (am, is, are; was, were; shall be, will be) + Participle I (work ing, speak ing, read ing) и других.
Примечание
На русский язык предложение в Present Continuous может передавать планируемое действие, относящиеся к ближайшему будущему. Tomorrow we are leaving for London. Завтра мы отправляемся в Лондон.

I. Read and translate the following sentences. Make them sentences negative, ask common question to each sentence and give short answers, ask as many special questions as possible.
1. The expedition is returning.
2. He was staying in Moscow for some days.
3. We shall be speaking much about it.
They are waiting for you now.
The students were preparing their reports from 7 till 11 yesterday.
