My Family
My family is not big, but also is not small: Dad, Mom, me, my brother, and my sister. We live in Moscow. My Mum is forty-three, she is a dentist. My Dad is forty-five, he is a translator, and he works for a publishing house. My parents both like their work very much.
My name’s Anton, I’m fifteen. I go to gymnasium. My favourite lessons are English and Spanish. I like foreign languages as my Dad, so I want to be an interpreter. After school graduation I will enter Moscow Linguistic University.
My elder sister Katya is nineteen, she goes to the Moscow National University, and she wants to be an archeologist. She is fond of ancient history and archeology. In summer she goes to excavations of ancient towns, such as Olvia, Khersones and others.
My younger brother Sasha is eight years old, he goes to school. He likes spending time outdoors, playing computer games and watching TV.
My grandparents are retired. They spend a lot of their time in the garden, growing vegetables and fruits.
We have united family and always help each other. Everyone in my family is my best friend. I love my family very much.

Моя семья не очень большая, но и не маленькая: папа, мама, я, брат и сестра. Мы живем в Москве. Моей маме сорок три года, она стоматолог. Моему отцу сорок пять лет, он переводчик, работает в издательстве. Моим родителям очень нравится их работа.
Меня зовут Антон, мне 15 лет. Я хожу в гимназию. Мои любимые уроки — английский и испанский. Я люблю иностранные языки, как и мой папа, поэтому хочу быть устным переводчиком. После окончания школы я буду поступать в Московский университет иностранных языков.
Моей старшей сестре Кате девятнадцать лет, она учится в Московском Национальном университете и хочет быть археологом. Она увлекается историей и археологией. Летом она ездит на раскопки древних городов, таких как Ольвия, Херсонес и другие.
Моему младшему брату Саше 8 лет, он ходит в школу. Он любит проводить время на открытом воздухе, играть в компьютерные игры и смотреть телевизор.
Мои бабушка и дедушка — пенсионеры. Они проводят много времени на приусадебном участке, выращивают овощи и фрукты.
У нас дружная семья и мы всегда помогаем друг другу. Каждый член семьи — мой лучший друг. Я очень люблю мою семью.
My friend
When we speak about somebody’s character, we can characterize a person as polite, friendly, good-natured, kindhearted, generous, thoughtful or, on the contrary, hard-hearted, ill-natured, rude, greedy, uncommunicative.
Now I’d like to describe my close friend. Her name is Kate. She is a beautiful girl of 16. Kate is not very tall. She is always very elegant, she wears the clothes of latest fashion. Kate has fair curly hair and dark blue eyes. Her eyelashes are very long and thick. Kate’s face is oval and she has a turned-up nose.
She is a well-bred, merry and kind person. She is very tactful and shy. Kate is a pleasant person to deal with, she never loses her temper. She also has a kind heart and a strong will. She is always ready to help her friends. Kate always manages to be amusing and cheerful. She is an easy-going girl. I am very happy to have such a friend.

Когда мы говорим о чьем-либо характере, мы можем характеризовать человека как вежливый, дружелюбный, добрый, щедрый, вдумчивый, или, наоборот, жестокосердный, злой, грубый, жадный, неразговорчивый.
Теперь я хотела бы описать моего близкого друга. Ее зовут Катя. Она красивая девушка 16 лет. Кейт не очень высокая.Она всегда очень элегантная и носит одежду по последней моде. у Кейт светлые вьющиеся волосы и синие глаза. Ее ресницы очень длинные и толстые. Лицо Кейт имеет овальную форму и у неё вздернутый носик.
Она - хорошо воспитанный, веселый и добрый человек. Она очень тактичная и застенчивая. С Кейт просто приятно иметь дело, она никогда не теряет самообладания. Она также обладает добрым сердцем и сильной волей. Она всегда готова помочь своим друзьям. Кейт всегда удается быть забавной и веселой. Она- спокойная девочка. Я очень рада иметь такого друга.
The House of My Dream
Every person has his own idea of a perfect house.
Since the time immemorial people always wanted to make their dwelling a place, where one feels comfortable and cosy, where one always wants to come back to.
A dwelling of my dream is not a flat but a two-storeyed mansion. And as a real hostess I’d like to arrange everything in the house according to my taste. Now, let me tell you about my house. When you come to me, you push a big wooden front door, wiping your feet on the door-mat, and enter the hall. The floor is covered with a fitted carpet, the wallpaper is light and has a small pattern. There’s a seat and a small table near the wall and a huge mirror above it.
Then you enter the living-room. The bright full-length curtains are drawn back, and sunshine fills the room. The living-room suite, consisting of a sideboard, a bookcase, a sofa, an elegant coffee table and three armchairs, is arranged around three walls. There’s a video system near the window.
On the ground floor there’s also a kitchen and a bathroom. The kitchen is a very large room with a big window. There is a gas cooker with a hood, two wall-cupboards and a sink unit there. Near the opposite wall there is a dishwasher, a refrigerator and a table.
Let’s go upstairs and have a look at the bedroom. This is a very cosy and warm room. The bedroom suite consists of a bed, two bedside tables and a wardrobe. The window overlooks the back yard. In my house there is also a terrace, a garage and a garden and so many other things I’d like to have; at least, in my dream house.

Каждый человек имеет свое представление об идеальном доме.
С незапамятных времен люди всегда хотели сделать свое жилище местом, где чувствуешь себя комфортно и уютно, куда всегда хочется вернуться.
Жилище моей мечты- не квартира, а двухэтажный особняк. И как настоящая хозяйка я хотела бы устроить все в доме по своему вкусу. Теперь позвольте мне рассказать вам о моем доме. Когда вы приходите ко мне, вы открываете большую деревянную дверь, вытирая ноги о коврик и входите в хол. Пол покрыт ковровым покрытием, обои светлые в небольшой рисунок. У стены- кресло и столик и огромное зеркало над ним.
Затем вы входите в комнату. Яркие длинные шторы взяты назад, и солнечный свет наполняет комнату. Мебельный гарнитур, состоящий из буфета, шкафа, дивана, элегантного журнального столика и трёх кресел, расположен вокруг трех стен. Видео-система- у окна.
На первом этаже есть также кухня и ванная комната. Кухня очень большая комната с большим окном. Там есть газовая плита с вытяжкой, два навесных шкафа и мойка. У противоположной стены есть посудомоечная машина, холодильник и стол.
Давайте поднимемся наверх и посмотрим на спальню. Это очень уютная и теплая комната. Спальный гарнитур состоит из кровати, двух тумбочек и шкафа. Окно выходит на задний двор. В моем доме есть терраса, гараж и сад, и так много других вещей, которые я хотела бы иметь, по крайней мере, в моих мечтах.
The Seasons of the Year. My Favourite Season.
It's a universal truth that every season is beautiful in its own way. Isn't it wonderful to tramp down the country lanes on a frosty winter day. Everything is white with snow and it crunches under your feet. The rime sparkles on the branches and the icicles like precious diamonds hang from the roofs of the houses. It's a merry time for both children and grown-ups. They can go skating and skiing, sledging and having a fight with snowballs or making a snowman. I suppose, it is very pleasant while the frost lasts, an unpleasant time comes when the thaw begins.
Cars and buses go along streets splashing the mud an slush on the passers-by. Everyone is grumbling and scolding the weather. But soon a warm wind blows up heavy grey clouds and the sun shines brightly in the cloudless azure sky. In a few months summer will come.
Summer is the most suitable season for holidays and vacations. People enjoy bright summer days if they are in the country or at the seaside. They go bathing and swimming, and fishing and boating. But it's unbearable to stay in town on such hot and glaring days. Everybody droops and shambles and tries to hide in the shade.
Then after a good rest autumn and harvest time comes. The corn has turned golden and the farmer will reap it and put it in his barn. The air is fresh and full of the autumn fragrance of ripe apples, plums and peaches and of course, coloured asters, chrysanthemums. But the weather is so changeable in autumn, people have to wear raincoats and umbrellas if they don't want to get wet through. The dead leaves cover the ground like a thick motley carpet, the roads are slippery and wet, there are lots of puddles in the streets and again everyone is looking forward to frosty winter days and much snow out-of-doors.
It's rather difficult to say what season is the best one, however dull and nasty or charming and marvellous the weather may be.
As to me, I always look forward to summer. I am never tired of its long sunny days, warm rains with thunderstorms and hail, the buzz of mosquitoes and midges. I like to spend my summer holidays at the seaside.
In my childhood I used to enjoy playing on the beach, making castles and forts in the sands. When one becomes older one begins to notice the murmur of the sea and it's so beautiful to look at the moon's way on the water in the darkness. The air is fresh and it's easy to breathe. I like to lie in the sun getting as brown, paddle in the water or get splashed by the waves.
But it's not every year that you can go to the seaside. Sometimes I spend my holidays in the country. Most of my time I spend in the woods gathering strawberries and flowers or at the river bathing and swimming in it. Very often, I help my granny in the vegetable garden weeding it or gathering tomatoes, cucumbers or radish. I like to walk in the rain or just sit indoors watching the raindrops falling down from the green leaves and blades of the grass onto the ground. When summer is over, I always feel sorry, because it was too short and was too quick to pass.
