I want to tell you about my homeland. My homeland is Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is an independent Republic. It is situated in the Central Asia. Its population, is 16 million. All people of Kazakhstan have equal rights and duties. Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. The territory of Kazakhstan is huge. It borders on China in the East and the Caspian Sea in the West, Russian in the North and the states of Asia in the South. The republic occupies the territory of more than 2 million square kilometers.. Kazakhstan has 14 regions, 84 cities.The earth of Kazakhstan is full of iron and gold, coal, nickel and raw materials. Also Kazakhstan is rich in mineral resources. These reserves formed a solid base for the development of heavy industry. The leading branch of agriculture is the production of wheat, sheep rising, and horse breeding. Kazakh-is the official language of the country, but Russian and other languages are spoken here too. Kazakhstan has hundreds of nationalities that’s why all people speak their native language.Great attention is paid to the development of culture and education the Kazakhstan University, the Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abai Kunanbayev are well known. There are many big industrial centers in Kazakhstan such as Karaganda, Almaty, Semey, and Shymkent.Kazakhstan is the place where space dreams and projects have come into reality. The name of Baikonur is known all over the world. We are proud of Kazakhstan and hope it will have a great future. Our president now is Nursultan Nazarbayev. The president is elected every seven years.
Topic2. Travelling around the world. Путешествия по всему миру
Millions of people all around the world adore travelling. They travel because they wish to see new countries and cities, visit historical places, meet with new people, taste various cuisines or they just want a change of scene. All people have their reasons, tastes and preferences, but, undoubtedly, they all like travelling. There are different means of transportation. People travel by ship, by plane, by train or by car. All means of transportation have their advantages as well as disadvantages. I would like to talk briefly about each of them. Travelling by plane is the fastest, but the most expensive transport. Many people prefer travelling by plane, though, some people are not good for height, that’s why, they prefer travelling by train. I have to notice that travelling by train is very popular in Kazakhstan.Nowadays, modern trains have very comfortable carriages and seats.
Topic3. My native town. мой родной город
My native town Atyrau is a capital of oil and gas industry in Kazakhstan. It is growing and developing due to oil and gas fields such as Tengiz, Kashagan, Sazankurak.
A lot of people from different places come here to work. They all speak different languages but they almost all can speak English. And in front of us there is a problem of knowing foreign languages.
At the present time it is very popular profession in Atyrau because it gives the opportunity to meet a lot of people from different countries and to be well-to-do that is important.
It is not easy to be a good interpreter. I have to know not only Phonetics and Grammar rules. I have to know the culture perfectly because I shall not only translate or interpret speech. Sometimes I shall help people to communicate by giving advice how to behave in certain cases.
I have to read a lot of English books in origin to make phrases right and to be able to translate jokes, something specific and so on. I have to be creative, imaginative, communicative, understand human’s psychology.
There are plenty of foreign companies like TCO, Agip KCO, Schlumberger and others that need in interpreters. It depends on an interpreter how successful the meeting, conference, contract is.
I conclude it is very interesting profession because I like meet people, travelling, know different cultures. I understand it is not easy to become a good interpreter and I have to work hard. I will do everything to be the best.
opic4. Environmental Problems. Экологические Проблемы
Environmental problems have become one of the most urgent problems of modern society. More and more people suffer from air and water pollution. Nature also suffers from land and nuclear pollution. The reasons for such environmental problems are numerous. Among them increasing number of cars in the streets, factory waste, millions of cut down trees, destroyed habitats of animals, contaminated rivers and seas. All these problems mainly arise due to human careless activities and gradually destroy our planet. If we look closely, we’ll notice that not only one city is under danger, but the majority of world population. Fortunately, there are many ways to suspend these problems. If everybody starts caring about the planet we live on, many environmental problems can be solved.
