№1. Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.
|Cultural development of a person depends on the visits to such places as theatres, exhibitions and libraries. Libraries play a significant role in the lives of all people who strive for knowledge and self-development. Books are a great source of knowledge of our ancestors and just simple modern writers. The many years’ experience right up to our time is gathered in the books. Everybody chooses what to read. Someone just ignores the literature, someone prefers to read only the classical literature, and someone likes modern glossy magazines. Tastes differ. However, whatever they say a book is the key to education and high intelligence of the reader. Library – that is the place where all kinds and genres both in native and foreign languages are gathered. Books on traveling, novels, adventure, fictions - in the library you will find it all and even more. After your filling in the library card, you can borrow a book you want. What sort of book … search in the catalogue. You can go to the reading room or take the book home. However, be careful with the book! Don’t tear out sheets and do not write anything on the pages. Otherwise you run the risk of paying a big fine.|
№2. Task 2. Study the advertisement.
You are considering visiting the city and now you are calling to find out more information. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask five direct questions to find out the following:
1) dates for departures
3)if dinner of city tours
4) number of city tours
5) documents you will need for your journey
You have 20 seconds to ask each question.
№3. Task 3. Imagine that while travelling during your holidays you took some photos. Choose one photo to present to your friend.

You will have to start speaking in 1.5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes. In your talk remember to speak about:

№4. Task 4. Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:

2)say what the pictures have in common
3)say in what way the pictures are different
4)say which of the performances presented in the pictures you'd prefer

New York is not the capital city of the Unites States of America. However, it’s the largest and the most famous city of the country. The city is situated on the east coast of the Atlantic Ocean and consists of five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Richmond and Queens. New York is also known as New Amsterdam or the Big Apple. There are a great number of places to visit in the city, but one of the most famous sights is the Statue of Liberty. People from all over the world want to take a photo with this giant sculpture of a woman, who is the national symbol of freedom. Another famous sight is the Broadway Street. Nobody misses it when visiting the city. It’s situated in Manhattan and houses lots of banks and other commercial organizations. There are also lots of entertaining and spectacular facilities which turned the Broadway into the symbol of entertainment industry. One of the architectural wonders of New York is a famous Brooklyn Bridge, which crosses the East River strait. The length of the bridge is 1825 meters and it connects Manhattan with Brooklyn. Other interesting architectures in the Big Apple are the skyscrapers: Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. Tourists also like the Rockefeller Center and the Woolworth Building. Art lovers will find many interesting museums in New York, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, American Museum of Natural History and many others. All in all, New York is a special city, which can offer its visitors thousands of attractions.
