Работа с текстом «У меня есть мечта…»

I Have A Dream…
Did you know that it took Abraham Lincoln thirty years to realize his dream of becoming president of the United States? After losing his mother at a young age, his first attempt to do business ended in failure. Then he was not 1) able to get into the law school, to which he so much wanted. In the end, he became a lawyer, then he was defeated three times in Congress with less than a hundred votes, while running for the position of vice president. He was finally elected the sixteenth president of the United States, at the age of sixty. He faced countless insurmountable obstacles, but he never gave up. He just kept going until he reached his goal!
So what about you? You may not dream of becoming a world leader, but perhaps you have enough time to become a lawyer, an astronaut or an inventor, climb Mount Everest, or perhaps just do something to help those less fortunate than you. At times, achieving these goals may seem impossible, and like Abraham Lincoln, you can come up against incredible difficulties. But 2) do not despair, because there are very practical steps that you can take to make your dreams come true...
Believe in yourself
Without a doubt, this is the first step towards achieving your dream! And that means not listening to those who say to you, "You cannot." Einstein, Beethoven and Edison all knew this. Einstein was considered by his early teachers to be an “uneducable fool,” Beethoven's music teacher said he would be a “hopeless composer,” and Thomas Edison’s mothers said that 3) he would be expelled from school because he was “too stupid to study”. Sometimes, however, we should not worry about others. Often, we ourselves are our worst enemy. Sometimes we look at ourselves and see all of our shortcomings, failures and failures. But when you drive away (banish) self-doubt, you are able to do everything in your 4) possibilities, because you believe that you can succeed. As Henry Ford once said: “If you can do something, or if you think you cannot, you are right in any case.”
Take steps to achieve your dream
Remember that Rome was not built in one day! In other words, the process of achieving your dreams, as a rule, involves a lot of 5) hard work and perseverance. Thus, read books, attend courses, practice for several hours, or do whatever you need to do to give you the skills to achieve your goals. After all, according to Thomas Edison, “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”
Do not give up
Finally, do not be afraid of failure to achieve your dreams. Michael Jordan is one who understands this very well. “I have failed many times in my life,” he once said, “and that’s why I succeeded.” The life of Thomas Edison proves to us that this is true. After thousands of failures, each of which showed him how not to make a light bulb, he was able to achieve success that will forever change people's lives. In the same 6) way, George Lucas' script for Star Wars was initially rejected in various studios. If he had surrendered at that moment, he would never have seen Star Wars become one of the most popular films of all 7) times! So never say never. Believe you can climb up those mountains, cross that ocean or get to that place, and, of course, one day you will do it. There would be no Ford cars, Star Wars, light bulbs or Beethoven's symphonies if it weren’t!
