Definitions:

Corporate Social Responsibility The idea that a company's role is not just about producing goods, but that it has a duty to help people in society and protect the environment.

Equal opportunities The right to be treated without discrimination, especially on the ground of one's sex, race, age, or religion.

Stakeholder A person or company that is involved in a particular organization, project, system, etc, especially because they have invested money in it.

Sustainable

1. Involving the use of natural products and energy in a way that does not harm the environment.

2. Capable of continuing for a long time at the same level.

Level playing field A situation in which different companies, countries, etc. can all compete fairly with each other because no one has special advantages.

Definitions:

Agenda 1. All the things that need to be done or need to be thought about or solved.

2. A plan or aim that is kept secret.

Minutes An official written record of what is said and decided at a meeting.

Chairperson (=chair) Someone who is in charge of a meeting or who directs the work of a committee or organization.

Action point Something that you decide must be done, especially after a meeting or after studying something carefully.

Merger The act of joining two or more organizations or businesses into one.

Acquisition 1. When one company buys another one, or part of another one

2. A company or part of a company that is bought by another company.

Takeover bid An offer to buy shares in a company and take control of it.

Shareholder Someone who owns shares in a company.

Market share The percentage of sales in a market that a company or product has.

Definitions:

Presentation An event at which a new product, idea, plan etc is described and explained.

A visual A picture, chart, video, etc. used to make a presentation or a talk easier to understand or more interesting.

Target audience A group of people that a plan, idea or a presentation is aimed at.

Handout Printed material that is given to members of the audience at a

meeting, event in order to give extra information or summarise the talk.

Definitions:

Agent Usually a local person or company with contacts and knowledge of the local market, who sells your products on commission. They do not buy or own your products before selling them.

To think outside the box To think of ideas and solutions that are completely different and new, especially in business.

Distributor A person who buys your products at the best price you can give them, and then sells them again to other customers at the best price they can get. They have local contacts and knowledge of the local market.

Credit rating An estimate of the ability of a person or organization to fulfil their financial commitments, based on previous dealings.

Intermediary A person or organization that helps to arrange agreements or business deals between other people or organizations.

Definitions:

Small talk Polite conversation about ordinary or unimportant subjects, especially at social occasions.
