Many scientific and technical journals are written in English although they are not necessarily published in England or other English-speaking countries. At numerous international meetings and conferences, English is the main language. The Olympic Games and other multinational sports events cannot do without it.
The role English plays today is the result of historical processes. The English language, in the course of its historical development, has met with so many influences from abroad that its lexical and grammatical structure has come to reflect in many ways its international use.
English is a language which is indeed able to cope with the most diverse tasks of international communication.

My Future Profession
Every year many young people enter educational establishments. I entered the Technical school of Technology and Service. I chose this technical school because since my childhood I admire the profession of cook. 1 am interested in cuisines of different countries and food preparation. I like to cook and to eat delicious food, to decorate dishes and to lay the table. I really care for catering, that is why I chose Technology of catering products as a future profession.
During the course of studies in the technical school we shall study a lot of subjects: chemistry, history, philosophy, psychology, business activities, accounting, commodity research, economics and many others. We specialize in such subject as technology of cooking.
We have to pay attention to latest articles on food technology and economics. It means that we must study not only textbooks, but read many special articles in Russian and foreign languages. I am sure that knowledge of English will help me in my future career. I want to be a qualified specialist. After studying at the technical school I want to continue my education at the Institute of Catering and then to open my private business.

I chose this technical school because since my childhood I admire the profession of shop-assistant. I am interested in the history of commerce, advertising business, and trade of goods. That's why I chose the profession of the expert on merchandise.
At the technical school we shall study a lot of subjects: Economics, Accountings, Commodity Research, Psychology of trade, Advertisement, Business activities, Marketing, Management and many others.
I want to get as much knowledge as possible, so I have to pay attention to latest articles on commodity research, technology of trade, trade equipment, and economics. I must study not only textbooks, but read many special articles in Russian and foreign languages. I am sure that knowledge of foreign language will help me in my future career. 1 want to be a qualified specialist and to continue my education at the University and then to open my private business.
