Gurudeva memories: In 1996 when Gurudeva first visited Badger, we took a walk in the sequoia national forest with him, it was a long beautiful walk, and while we chanting and 'enjoyed' the nature, Gurudeva was contemplative. After returning to the bus which we were all driving in, "I have liberated all these tree's" he told the small group of us. "These tree's have been standing here for 5,000 years, since the time Krishna walked upon the earth!" he said. "I felt very grave when I saw their sadness, so I chanted for all of them to now be liberated from their suffering". This is the difference between our vision and the vision of a pure devotee. He see's the suffering and helps them, we just 'enjoy' nature. It brought tears to my eyes, this vision he had. More examples of this compassion in Gurudeva - coming tomorrow.

Bhagavat Maharaja I remember this incident with Srila Prabhupada either in Vrindavan or in Bombay. They were preparing for the construction of the temple and were going to cut the trees down. Srila Prabhupada said please do not cut the trees. When you cut them they feel pain and I feel pain also. He began to shed tears asking the devotees to please not cut the trees.

Haripriya Dasi That brings tears to my eye's. I get upset when I hear tree's being cut down in the forest behind our place. It makes me feel like they are murdering. I thought I was being sentimental. Not saying I am like Srila Prabhupada, just acknowledging this is how are hearts should be like.

Andrew Freedman Thanks Maharaj. That answers my own issue as to whether or not to cut down some trees at our ashram. Jaya Prabhupada

Anjali Dasi Those were specifically Vrindavan trees.
They were already Krishna's devotees.
It's horrible when trees in the holy dhama are cut by mad people.

Vrinda Taylor So great to read this, particularly because we were just there a couple of weeks ago, and we'd heard that Gurudeva had gone to the sequoia forest, and wanted to know details of it. Thanks! <3

Lalit Kishore Lauren Sinclair Hmm just wondering out loud; I wonder if that's why they are dieing now.

Нравится · Ответить · 2 · 10 августа 2016 г. в 1:29

Vrinda Taylor It's the pines that are dying now, so I was informed recently, not the sequoias. And it's all over California that the pines are dying from some type of beetle. We never know what Gurudeva did, though! He is the magician!

"Why are you crying?" Gurudeva asked me. "One of your tears is worth more than lacs and lacs births chanting Hari Nam" he said.

On Gurudeva's first tour out of India, it was 1996, we were singing Gauranga Bolita, Baja Hu Re Mana, Namami Nandana and Sri Radha Krpa Kataksa Stava-Raja prayers before every class. They were Gurudeva's favorite songs, and he taught us word for word how to sing these songs with mood and taste. He told us "who is the author of Namami Nandana? Srimati Radhika was feeling very deep separation from Krishna, She saw a blackish Tamal tree and it reminded Her of Krishna, so She set about painting Krishna's Divine Form upon the body of the tree. First She painted His Lotus Feet, and then His legs and so on, up to His sweet smiling Face and peacock feather, flute and so on, all the while limb by limb as She painted, She sang this song describing His beauty. Krishna becomes very happy upon hearing this song, but even happier when we sing Radha Krpa Kataksa Stava Raja describing Her Divine Body and qualities."

Citra Devi Dasi Thank you Didi for your wounderfull Seva. Blessings

Andrew Freedman Wow so beautiful...thanks for sharing dear sister...perfect timing too...i am just about to sing Namami Nandana and Sri Radha Krpa Kataksa Stava-Raja prayers...its part of my daily sadhana as per Srila Gurudeva s request

Lalita Sakhi Krishna Rose... Told me yes... Srimati Radhika is the author of this song!

Krishna Rose Yes Gurudeva told us this on a few sweet occasions.

Нравится · Ответить · 2 · 3 августа 2016 г. в 23:50

Shyam Das Yes, he did. He described how, in separation, She was painting him on a tree, aided by Her friends such as Chitra Sakhi & Ranga Devi, who have artistic talents & knowledge of minerals, colours & paints.

Su-karna ratna-kundalam - first She paints His beautiful ears, with ear-rings, so He can hear Her song, and He immediately comes near, hidden, to listen.
Su-carcitanga-candanam - She paints His outline, His beautiful body, which they then smear with fragrant sandalwood paste.
Su-dirgha netra-pankajam - She paints His beautiful lotus eyes, which extend nearly to His ears.
Su-nasikagra mauktikam - She paints his lovely nose (like a sesame flower) from which hangs an elephant pearl ornament.

Gurudeva had us sing this song morning and evening when we were with him in the 90s, slowly, *after* singing the Sri Radha-Krpa Kataksa Stava-Raja (quickly).

You could see he was in trance, he was in internal consciousness witnessing these pastimes, which he would then describe to us in the class. He was not in this world, but in Goloka.

Shyam Das My pleasure :) I just note that above it says, lotus feet first, here I say, face and ears first (su-caru vaktra mandalam). No harm - spiritual life is dynamic, so if Gurudeva said both things, then both must be true! <3

"I have given you everything, now go and realize it" - Gurudeva said.
What does he mean by "everything"? Does he mean everything I need to enter the Kingdom? Or does he mean the Kingdom itself? Or does he mean you need to run off to another Sampradaya to get what he didn't give? For those who say Gurudeva didn't give us everything we need to enter The Kingdom, I say to them this "If Gurudeva gave us everything we need, then Siddha PRANALI and all Bhava's are there within, those who are running to Babaji's do not have real faith in Guru, they think, "I have not been given everything so I have to now run and get new mantra's and 'real' diksha from the Babaji line".... Gurudeva said "I have given you everything NOW GO AND REALIZE IT". What does it mean, go and realize it? It means sit in one place every day, for at least 2 hours, quietly, alone, head covered, eyes shut, withdraw from the outside world, and go inside and explore your inner self, dive deep and search for the treasures that Gurudeva has planted there in the heart, meditate on the Kingdom (Goloka Vraj) with all your intention and with great love and focus. If we are not doing this daily, then we are not capable of realizing what Gurudeva has gifted us with. Hence we run off to Babaji's in search of a quick fix.... like running off to the local fast food store to get something cheap and quick.... Guru Nistha means to have faith, not only in Guru, but in his teachings, his intructions he gave us... if there is no deep internal Bhajan happening then how can we say we are following Gurudeva? Fix this, and we fix not only all our problems, but the problems of all of life.

Anjali Dasi But siksha from senior Vaishnavas with Gurudeva's mood is desirable.
Babajis with different mood is what she is referring to.
Sadhu sanga is always great if carefully sought out

Нравится · Ответить · 6 · 1 августа 2016 г. в 17:03

Krishna Rose The Babaji's of Radha Kund is what I'm discussing here, as many of Gurudeva's disciples are running there for siddha pranali, and getting re-initiated which is a grave offense to Srila Gurudeva.... the Babaji in question is telling people "we are giving real Diksha, as our line is a real diksha line, the line from Bhaktisiddanta Prabhupada is giving only siksha as they have no diksha line" - thereby they are misleading Gurudeva's children into thinking that only now that they run to this Babaji they are getting REAL diksha. This is false, and it is an offense to our Parampara.

Gurudeva memories: "Don't ever sing any kirtan parrot fashion" Gurudeva told me. "A parrot can recite so many things "WAH WAH WAH" but you should sing from the heart, knowing the mood and translation word for word of what you sing". Jaya Gurudeva!! Taking us deeper!

Suchandra Dasi mood mood mood!!!!!!!!!! This is why he liked the English bhajans

Shyam Das The whole sequence of bhajans, used to take at least an hour. Morning and night. Plus Mangala Arati, Bhoga Arati, Gaura Arati. I need a body fit to do that! This one is fit for Maha Samadhi Mandir

Shyam Das In practice, I manage mangala-arati for 3 days then cannot. In India, I cannot sleep at night, so cannot get up in the morning. Or, force myself, get into a spiral of zero sleep & go completely insane. I need a time machine!

Gurudeva memories: "What do you want to do with your life?" Gurudeva asked me. "I want to feed hungry people with prasadam Gurudeva, and give the Holy Names to all". He smiled, and then very sweetly asked me, "Oh? Do you have the Holy Names to give?". "No" I answered timidly. "First you should realize what is inside Hari Nam, then you can give. You can only give what you have realized, so first realize, this is the real charity".

After Gaura Govinda Maharaja left this world, many ISKCON followers were jaded and sad, and came to Mathura to see Gurudeva. Some men complained that the women were always in the front and the men at the back, so it was hard to hear. "We are used to the men in the front and women in the back Srila Gurudeva" they said. Gurudeva so sweetly then replied "we should always give some preference to the ladies, their hearts are so soft. In Goloka Vrindavan (Kingdom of God), it is also like this, preference is always given to the ladies". He paused, and continued by telling us something so radical! In ISKCON we were told that men can get Bhakti easier than women because they are more intelligent.... "women can get Bhakti so easily because they do not have this Purusha-Bhava mentality" (lording it over mentality). Us ladies were all giggling and happy with Gurudeva's amazing answer. In the end Gurudeva made arrangements for women to be on side, and the men on the other to be fair to all. His mood was so sweet. Later Gurudeva said " it is much easier for ladies to get Bhakti than for men, because their hearts are so soft, the men are blocked by intelligence thinking "I know so much"".

Lalita Sakhi Most of the men in ISKCON had this mood but Srila Prabhupada also said it is easier for women to surrender because they have simple hearts! But despite this, in many ISKCON temples, the women had to stand in the back during services. But now, it has all changed... Now all stand side by side, Thank Radha!
Thankyou for sharing this!
Srila Gurudeva is sooooooo sweet!

Anjali Dasi Thanks Krishna Rose. So much.
I'm thinking of those strong Mathura ladies with so much greed to see and hear Srila Gurudeva and how the male Iskcon leaders must have felt a little weak in comparison.

Нравится · Ответить · 3 · 27 июля 2016 г. в 15:11

Anjali Dasi Although on reading it again I realize you're talking about Iskcon followers rather than leaders.
Anyway I would still not be surprised if the leaders felt intimidated by strong Mathura women 😄

Suchandra Dasi Last timee I was in Mathura, the ladies were still in the front

Нравится · Ответить · 1 · 28 июля 2016 г. в 5:26

Suchandra Dasi But at Keshavji Gaudiya math in Navadvip, it seems the men have pushed the ladies to the back...or perhaps the ladies got less greedy for Krsna and less brave without Srila Gurudev in a new math

Anjali Dasi Devananda Gaudiya math they are still at the front in arati. But on a lower level.
2 sides during class and bhajans

Anjali Dasi During Navadvip Parikrama anything goes :)
There's a lot of space between where the men stand doing kirtan in Keshavaji Gaudiya math Navadvip and the deities.
Anyone could stand up front but there seems to be some etiquette that they don't often

Нравится · Ответить · 28 июля 2016 г. в 6:18

Anjali Dasi I love remembering Devananda Gaudiya math and always focus on getting back there, into the area we call home.
Where all the samadhis of our Gurus are.
So many deep and important memories for me there.
And obviously for Srila Gurudeva being the first place he came to serve his Gurudeva.
I love being in that crowd of transcendental women at the front too. As they offer their deepas.
Navadvip vasis ki Jai!
(I think it's funny that my auto correct changed deepas to deep as. It's like the modern way people say "Cool as" or something without having to add just which noun it is as cool as)

Memories of Gurudeva: I remember every morning, early in the morning, after morning program, in Mathura, while we were all sitting having breakfast in the morning, Gurudeva would come out of his room, holding small woven basket in his right hand, or resting on his wrist (just exactly like in the painting of him in Manjari seva - seva Kunja painting Syaramarani didi did) - filled with a few flowers, he would look so sweet, and go into the temple room on his own, and offer flowers, one by one from his little basket of offerings, and give to each of the Deities, and to the shoes of his Gurudeva (our Param Gurudeva) which were in a glass case in the center of the temple room. It was the sweetest time to see him this way, he was just like a Manjari coming from his little cottage and going to do seva and offerings for Srimati Radhika and Her Krishna.
