Gurudeva memories: "Become beautiful on the inside. Don't take your anger into your chanting, and don't ever let me see you take your beads into the bathroom". Then he wrapped tulsi around my neck in 3 strands and said "you should think, one strand is Krishna, one strand is Radhika, and one strand is Gurudeva, and you should always keep them together like this" indicating that I should tie all three stands together with a small piece of cloth or yarn.

Gurudeva memories: One morning, I came to see Gurudeva, in his room in Keshavji Gaudiya Math Temple, Mathura. His room was on the first floor. I sat next to his bed on the floor, he was sitting legs crossed, speaking very sweetly to me. I had arrived only the night before, for the first time, this was my second darshan. He saw I was wearing friendship bracelets made of cloth upon my wrists. He called to Naveen Krishna Brahmacari (Sripad Madhava Sripad Madhav Maharaj) and told him "get my knife". Then he leaned in towards me with his knife pointing at me, and he ripped all my bracelets from my arm with a crooked smile on his sweet face, but he was somewhat stern at the same time. I was in shock. He said to me "you have no friends in this world, I am your only friend". Later I asked him why he said this to me as I have so many friends. He told me "friends will take your time away from Bhajan, take your energy, and want what you have, but no one can give you what I want to give you".

Citra Devi Dasi So nice Didi. When I visited Kesavaji Gaudiya Math temple in 2004 his room was in the top of the building. Gurudeva Ki Jai!

Krishna Rose Yes they moved him upstairs later to accommodate all the guests.... his room was small... but I always think of him there in that room - so sweet it was!

Gurudeva sayings: One time, we were in San Diego staying at a beautiful Franciscan Monastery retreat center with Gurudeva for a week of festivities. On one morning walk, I was walking behind Gurudeva, with a small group of devotee's walking all about him, on a pathway through the beautiful gardens the Monks had tended. One Monk was working hard in the gardens, it was very early morning, he saw Gurudeva coming, he got up from his work and approached Gurudeva with folded palms, "Please Master" he said, "I can see that you are a Holy Man, please tell me what to do with my life". Gurudeva thought for a moment, and then replied "become like Jesus". As he walked off, the Monk was in tears. I was in tears. He never disturbed anyones faith, only encouraged from where they were and gave the goal. This is Guru. Later that day Gurudeva told me "don't preach to anyone, make friends everywhere you go, then with trust and love build a bridge and your friends will listen and want to be part of what you do".

Sayings of Gurudeva - When I first came to Gurudeva I told him "Gurudeva, I have an addiction to marijuana". He said to me "when I first came to my Gurudeva, I was young, and I was struggling with something, so I told him it, and he did this movement over my heart and removed it from it's root" (making a gesture like a reiki movement over the heart). Then every day, Gurudeva, upon returning to the Math (temple) after his morning walks, would find me, and do this reiki like movement over my heart. He did this for one month. I am so grateful to him for removing this permanently from my life - he has given me a chance to chant real Holy Names, without taint nor shadow from any intoxicant. He told me "if you want real Vrindavan (Kingdom of God), then you cannot have marijuana, you will have to choose, Goloka Vrindavan, or Marijuana, and if you choose Marijuana, then I will cut you off forever". Needless to say, I chose The Kingdom.
