Gurudeva memories: Here today we continue with the amazing injections of valuable jewels through the veins of Bhakti instructions from our divine holy master Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja, my Gurudeva:-
1. "Everything belongs to Krishna. We come to this world with nothing and we leave this world with nothing";
2. "A first class devotee will do whatever is needed for seva (service to God and Goddess), to Radha, Krishna and Gurudeva, without asking, and without delay, not even stopping for arcana first, thinking "They will die if I don't give them water!", such a devotee will want nothing for themselves. The second class of devotee are those who do seva on the order of Gurudeva or any Vaisnava. The third class of devotee is the devotee who goes where he / she wants, they think their bodies are their own";
3. "Any true devotee will want nothing for themselves. To make Krishna pleased, we should be like a Gopi, with garland in hand, ornaments ready to serve, flowers in hair, big crooked lovely eyes with kajal (smudged eye liner). Going to bathroom not for themselves, sleeping not for sleep but for Krishna, taking even breath for Krishna, everything, it is possible to be like this";
4. "We should get up in the morning and chant and remember without any disturbance";
5. "There is a competition to be happy, and to keep each other happy, the Gopi's think "if I am happy, then Krishna will be happy";
6. "Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu wanted to pull down the wall of opulence that is there in love for Krishna (God). In Dasya Rasa (servant mood) there is a high wall, you can't sit on the same Asana (throne) as Krishna, you can't take food from the same plate as Krishna (God), you can't sleep on the same bed because of fear of an offense to Krishna (God)";
- Gurudeva would say that the Gopi's have no fear of Krishna whatsoever, in fact their love is so intimate that they chastise Him and tease Him with no hint of any reverence that He is God. This is the love that we are trying to develop. A love that is so strong, that all reverence that Krishna is God, is gone, it is burned in the fire of love.
7. "These teachings are like pearls hidden inside the mouth of the oyster. After sometime, the drops of cloud water, went into the sea and came inside the mouths of the oyster, then some time later became pearls, means keeping so valuable jewels, a sea of jewels, Rasa Siddhanta (knowledge of Rasa) is like this";
8. "The object of Prema (pure love) is Radhika (The Goddess). The mood of Radha comes from Her friend Vishaka, by Her rain She makes the pearl in the sea. We should go into the school of Radhika, and Her teacher Vishaka. Srimati Radhika is the Prema Guru (the love Guru) of Krishna (God)";
9. "If any one of you takes these teachings and understands them, then I feel my preaching is successful";
10. "If any devotee has a greed to serve Radha and Krishna (Goddess and God) in Goloka Vrindavana (The Kingdom of God) it is VERY rare, and they are so fortunate. We should bow down to the lotus feet of such a person";

Note from me: This really brings up for me, the importance of honoring all Vaisnava's properly with etiquette. I see that many of us today, have become complacent in this, and despite hearing this teaching over and over again, we still criticize devotees, who are indeed greedy for service to Radha and Krishna. Whether or not we see faults in them, we should first look to our own faults before looking in the reflection of any other Jiva. This is the disease which most plagues our movement, and our hearts - and one which this simple teaching would annihilate if we could but follow.
Gurudeva would say "do not criticize anyone, not even an ant".
I pray that we may all become such a devotee. For our own sakes, and for the sake of all.

Gurudeva memories: In honor of the passing of my friend Narayan Prabhu, from our Alachua sanga, I am posting these sweet and poignant teachings that Gurudeva spoke to us, during that first beautiful tour in 1996. May Srila Gurudeva, and Srila Prabhupada carry your soul into a life blessed with sadhana without distraction, thank you for always being so kind to me, you will be missed:-
1. "What is a good kind of kirtan? That kirtan which goes on with flute and harmonium, and sweet voices etc, is a very good kirtan. But that kirtan which goes on, behind close doors, with no harmonium, no flute, no sweet voice, but weeping while chanting and praying Hare Krishna, this is kirtan, this is so attractive and tasty for Krishna";
2. "Happiness and ananda (spiritual bliss) are very different. Happiness has no object, but ananda has Krishna (God) as it's object";
3. "Happiness for tasting anything from this world, for self, stay away from this, this is not real happiness, it looks like happiness, but it is not real happiness, it like a poison";
4. "Radhika (The Goddess) is like a very fragrant and beautiful vine, and the Manjari's are the beauty of Radhika's Prem (love). Unless we come in the college of these moods, we cannot taste Rasa. Only then, can we be with Krishna and enter Vraj-Lila (The Kingdom of God)";
5. "Accept the Gopi's and Manjari's as our Guru's, then accept their moods through the mercy of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu";
6. "How to forgive all offenses, anarthas and attachments - it is very hard, so we should do Bhakti smaranam and pada-sevanam. These are helpful to us. Learn "what is our relation to Krishna (God)";
7. "If you have some ingredients like, sugar and a little water, 2 kilo's of lemon, 2 kilo of something else, it will be bad tasting. An expert person can take all these ingredients and make something so delicious and sweet, it depends on the person who gives all the right proportions. Then it will be Rasa. Ragunnath Das Goswami, and Rupa Goswami, and our Parampara, they have given the formula's for Bhakti. Srila Prabhupada has given this everywhere. We must try to follow";
8. "Salty water is not palatable. Salty water is "eat drink and be merry", it is sense gratification, hypocrisy, duplicity", this kind of drink is poison";
9. "It is essential to take initiation from a bonafide Guru. Otherwise we cannot advance, we will be like hippies";
10. "I will die if You don't give me service. My life and soul, my everything belongs to Krishna, this is our mood";

Gurudeva memories: Here are some beautiful teachings taken from my diaries whilst traveling with Gurudeva 1995-1996. Most of us at that time were living in close proximity to Gurudeva, wherever Gurudeva was, we would also stay, in the same house mainly. It was like a sweet affectionate family, everyone buzzing around Gurudeva's sweet discussions and interactions with us. I have shared them here like bullet points, to give the full force of the inspiration here:
1. "If anyone is a drunkard, or lusty for sex life, or angry, he/she has so many bad qualities that are hidden behind, but if he/she is hearing from a bonafide Guru, and taking shelter of a pure Guru, then Bhakti will come from the greed Guru gives anyhow";
2. "Idleness comes, no taste for spiritual life, stopping Hari Katha, having no taste in Vaidhi Bhakti, being sleepy and bad things in the mind and heart, we need to take our Mala in our hands anyhow";
3. "By association with a pure devotee we can become a bonafide Vaisnava. Hear and go deep into these teachings";
4. "I have taken shelter of the Lotus Feet of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which are more soft and fragrant than a lotus flower. These flowers will never dry, those who have taken these Feet as their wealth and shelter, they can realize the essence of Bhakti rasa";
5. "When chanting, when practicing, have no worldly desires, no desire for self gratification, or salvation, or to be wealthy. Take nothing but Harinam";
6. "Sometimes we see disciples serve Gurudeva, but they make some share of 75%/25%, sometimes 50%/50% with Gurudeva. They want to swallow everything, but they don't know they are going towards hell. The only wealth is love for Krishna. Otherwise they will be ruined, their lives will be quite useless";
7. "If you want to be pure devotees of Svarupa Siddha Bhakti, you should go door to door and beg for money for Gurudeva and Vaisnava's, but if you take even one cent for your self, you will be ruined";
8. "There is no need of temples, your heart should be a temple. Gaura Kishora Dasa Babaji never founded any temple, so we should make our hearts like this, otherwise there is no value";
9. "One should not think "I am so tolerant, I am so humble, I speak the truth", you should do Bhakti first and then all things will come from that";
10. "If you have joined Krishna consciousness, there is no need of a University degree. Go instead into the college of Haridas Thakur, and Gaura Kishora Das Babaji, and do not waste time trying to gain artificial knowledge or qualities. Depend on Hari Nam (Holy Names) and Gurudeva, this is the best university. Goloka Vrindavan (the Kingdom of God) will not see all these things, but Hari Nam and Hari Katha yes yes, that They will see. That will carry us where we want to be";
Angela Thompson Myself & my husband where the two first initiated disciples on Gurudeves first visit to the UK in 96, did you stay with us in Glastonbury when he first went there? We where very close to Gurudeve...He gave me explicit instructions not to tell pastimes and personal interactions with him as they are like camphor, once exposed to the air they loose their potency.
Is Krsna Rose your initiated name or did you have another name then? I personally know everyone who was on tour with Gurudeve in 1996 on-wards. I am not being antagonistic, but I don' t remember you and your name is not one Gurudeve would give, he alway's gave us Personal names of the Sakhi's. His first seven fe-male disciples where called after the six principle gopis!
Do you remember what very important and poingnant thing happened in 96 at Glastonbury, as we lived all in one house something special happened... Those that where in Gurudeves personal onterage know about it and we used our car, Raghunath Bhatta's car and another vehicle, we where small and close knit....Please tell me DD as I would like to know who you are, so we can share our sweet memories and pastimes together. But I cannot share alas the realm personal, private one's.

Krishna Rose Haribol Angela. Are you Ananga? What is your spiritual name? My name is Krishna Vallabha. Krishna Rose is a name that I took when I started touring with my music, (I'm a singer), to make it easier for people to remember my name and find me on-line. Not sure if I stayed with you in Glastonbury or not, I stayed at the house where Gurudeva was supposed to stay in 1996, I stayed there with Syamarani didi, and the family of Gurudeva at that time

Gurudeva memories: Here are a few extracts from my 1996 Gurudeva diaries. I am posting them as bullet point gospel teachings, to give each teaching the full force of it's beauty and power:-
1. "If someone is hungry, even a plain chapati (bread) without ghee (butter) or anything, will be tasty. Krishna (God), needs nothing. Not from anyone. He is self satisfied. He is without desire. So if you have taste, if we have love and affection for Krishna (God), then we should be happy and satisfied. We should think, "there is a hunger is in me, love and affection is in me, if we do not mix these moods at time of offering then Krishna will have no appetite to taste what you are offering";
2. "Like a bird, going into a nest, we can all go to Goloka Vrindavan (the Kingdom of God)".
3. "A particle of water doesn't mix with other particles of water, it is always separate, it is always a particle. There is a heap of stones, and a person comes with a stick to mix the stones, but the stones cannot merge together, they are separate and they will always be separate. Any Jiva (soul) cannot mix with Brahman (the energy of God). If we see that God has no form and no senses then we are not correct. If we have an appetite for something, we should think, Krishna (God) also has an appetite. This is love."
4. "If we are eager for Krishna to eat something, then surely He will have an appetite and take something. If we have no prema like this, Krishna will not be pleased, and then you will not be pleased either".
5. "Krishna is the Soul of all souls. You should not only try to know your own soul, but try to also learn about Him."
6. "By serving Krishna (God), all will be pleased. God will be pleased, the devotee's will be pleased, your family will be pleased. But if we try to please our selves, then no one will be happy".
7. "When the mercy of Krishna comes, then everything will be fine in your life, don't try for any enjoyment for the self, then Krishna (God) will see, "oh she is trying so hard", then He will be pleased and think "she is qualified for My mercy", otherwise by our own senses, nothing is coming, despite so much effort".
8. "If any devotee is sent from Goloka Vrindavana (the Kingdom of God), to Earth, by Radha and Krishna (God & Goddess), they are Nitya-Siddha devotee's, they are not conditioned souls, they are eternally perfected souls, like my Gurudeva, and Bhaktivinode Thakur. If anyone has a Guru like this, they are very fortunate. If a guru comes, and he falls and falls and falls, it is very dangerous, it seems that no impressions of Bhakti are coming. We will gallop through to Raganuga Bhakti by the association of a bonafide Vaisnava (pure devotee). Hear from him and go deep into these meanings. We should immediately surrender to a bonafide Guru. Don't wait. Go to him and tell him "please give me service to Radha and Krishna in Vrindavana". Then Gurudeva will give the seed of this thing, first he cleans the heart and makes a fertile ground for the seed, and then the seed is given".
9. "I will serve my Gurudeva and Krishna even if they cut off my head (not literally!). I will do Bhajan (spiritual chanting practices) every day, I will die by starvation, I will live under a tree with no possessions, but I will not ever give up my spiritual practices. You may cut me into pieces, and I will never give up my chanting. This is Sraddha (faith). If anyone chants like this, they will overcome birth and death entirely, and all suffering and sorrow will come to an end".
10. "When taking Gayatri Mantra's, inside all evils come in the mind, then sleep will try and over take you. But if you have taste, then it will be very tasteful. Even if no taste is there, you must still do. All kinds of anartha will go, and so many moods will come when you chant. Pray for mercy, pray to understand all these things. Go deep into Prabhupada's purports, and go on advancing like this".

Krishna Rose I myself asked Gurudeva why at time of chanting Gayatri my body would squirm with discomfort, and my mind would go everywhere, he told me "past life samsara's are coming to be purified, do it anyway".

Gurudeva memories: Here are some beautiful gems of truth, spoken by Gurudeva in January 1996 in Mathura, India, prior to going on his first world tour out of India. Here Gurudeva explains for us, what the deeper truths are regarding the spiritual eternal world, The Kingdom of God, to which we are all aspiring, no matter what faith, what religion we follow, this is our goal:
1. "The Gopi's (eternal friends of Radha), they are not Sadhana (devotee's who do spiritual practice to attain the Kingdom), they are themselves servants, expansions of Srimati Radhika (The Goddess). All the Gopi's are in varying moods and expressions of Radhika. One nayaka can't make so make so much Rasa, so Radhika has expanded Herself to taste and make more taste to Krishna (God)";
2. "If you want to love Krishna (God) like the residents of Vrindavana (the Kingdom of God), you have to practice hard, don't take anything for yourself for five days, just chanting, crying, weeping for Krishna (God), with moods, not dryness. This is Krishna consciousness";
3. "If the mood is not here, then nothing, otherwise always controlling, meetings, this and that doing, we have very little time. Not mere chanting with dry hearts and sense gratification. Chant for love's sake";
4. "Krishna is singing in the 5th Note, the Gopi's are singing in the 7th note, dancing so beautifully, but when Radhika (the Goddess) dances, so charming, the peacocks stop dancing to see, Krishna's eyebrows stop moving, He forgets Himself entirely. In opulence mood, there is nothing, throw out this mood. When the Gopi's dance, Brahma Jnana comes from their lotus toe nails, but they don't honor Krishna, such love is there. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has come to give Bhakti Rasa, to take you to Vrindavana (Kingdom of God), not to Vaikuntha (eternal planets where God is worshipped in awe and reverence)";
5. "Whether black, white, sudra, brahmin or anything, you should understand, we are in Vamsi Vat, in Seva Kunja in Vrindavan by heart, "I am the maid servant of Radhika". There are so many wish fulfilling tree's and creepers everywhere, Yamuna River is flowing. Be in Vrindavan by heart. If one is in England and thinking "I am in Vrindavan" then they are there, in Vrindavan. Then all eternal knowledge will automatically";
6. "Krishna (God) is not conquered or controlled, only by the Gopi's, mostly Radha (the Goddess and Her Eternally perfected Girlfriends). We should not try to take Jnana (knowledge), that Jnana that Krishna is God, for no real Prem (love) will come. But if we have moods and affection for Him, He can be controlled by this kind of love";
7. "When we think "I am so learned, I am so strong", Prem cannot be achieved by this false ego";
8. "Don't criticize even a third class devotee, sometimes we forget because we have become rich, or successful, then we may try to control devotee's, Bhakti and even Krishna. Try not to be offensive to the Holy Names, to devotee's, to any one. Try be careful from all these things, if you really want Krishna and Krishna Prem";
9. "If we are doing sixteen types of worship, Krishna is not hungry for that, Krishna has no appetite for such things, He is not wanting for anything, He is fully satisfied. BUT, if any devotee thinks "I want to prepare something sweet for Krishna" and offers with mood, then certainly He will come and taste. If not giving from whole heart, why should He come?";
10. "If Krishna is not coming in our hearts at time of worship or chanting, then our hearts are not saturated in Rasa, if our hearts are squeezed, Rasa should come out, like a rasagula. If heart is sweet and wet from moods, then He will come, and He will smile at you, and You will have His association, you should at once try to serve Him like this, and try to be with Him like this. We should buy these moods at once, no delay, no doubt, giving even all rules and regulations up, to hear from any Vaisnava who has these moods. By this He will come, and you will think Krishna is mine, and He will think "he or she is mine"";

Gurudeva memories: Here Gurudeva continues teaching us how to chant properly, these teachings are critical to our advancement. Gurudeva spoke so beautifully, so sweetly about these important issues for our situation, he reminds me so much of Jesus the way he speaks. These words were spoken in Mathura, India in 1996 just before he left India for the first time to come to the West. I have made them into bullet-point gospels here, to experience the full force of each teaching for our inspiration and pleasure:-
1. "Oh Nam (Holy Names), You are endlessly merciful, I am not taking Your mercy, I think I am so bonafide, such a good devotee, an acharya, please help me", we should pray like a child, cry and weeping "oh Father, oh Mother please help me" with sincere tears";
2. "Don't criticize anyone, only see your own wretched mind";
3. "Why tears don't come at time of chanting? We should pray, "my heart is not melting, I am like stone or steel, oh Nam-Devi, (holy Names) I have no mood, I want to chant, but I waste time criticizing and gossiping, and trying to control everything. I want to spend my time advancing in Krishna consciousness (God consciousness), but my offenses spoil everything, all my endeavors will be useless if I am offensive, oh Gurudeva, please help me"";
4. "Guru can chastise, but not us. If you see things in others, then don't sanga (associate with them), but don't criticize. Everyone should honor everyone, in all circumstances";
5. "Without the mercy of Rupa and Ragunnath, we cannot see Vrindavan (Kingdom of God). If we are not crying at time of chanting, then we are making offenses to the Holy Names and to Vaisnava's. We should pray "When will a day come, when The Divine Couple will be my life and soul. When will saffron musk, and kum kum be mixed and I will anoint Their Divine heads", we must have greed for this, this mood will take us to Vrindavan";
6. "We should have a sense of urgency to see Vrindavan (Kingdom of God), greed to see and serve Radha (Goddess) and Krishna (God). We should think and pray, "When will a day come, when I may collect seven types of flowers and make a garland, and give some Tulasi Manjari's, she has so much honey, "O Lalite, I have made this flower garland, I want that you will give it to The Divine Couple", then Radha will ask "who has made this sweet and fragrant garland?", and Lalita will reply "it is this new very sweet girl". When will a day come when Vishaka will say to me "come on, make beautiful camphor and tabula" Radhika will give it to Krishna, and He is smiling some, and They look at Each Other out of corner of Each Others Eyes". At time of chanting, we should pray like this, Radha and Krishna will be melted, and take us, and give us taste in Name and pastimes, we cannot imagine what magic will happen at that time";
7. "At time of chanting, we should think "when will the day come that I will see Radha and Krishna sitting on a Golden Throne by the Yamuna River, in the shade of a Kabamba Tree, so sweet and fragrant, and all are serving the Divine Couple. When will a day come when They will ask me to bring Them a golden glass of water mixed with camphor, and They will smile and tell "oh very good"". This is Bhajan. By this we can go there, otherwise thousands and thousands of chanting without mood, doing offenses, criticizing, not moving even an inch further, no heart melting, the life is wasted";
8. "Follow your Gurudeva, by his mercy you can attain the mercy of Lord Nityananda and Caitanya Mahaprabhu, then Rupa and Ragunnath, and so develop your Krishna consciousness. A young man has some detachment from his family, he has children, he went to the border of his village and was crossing, "where will I go, who will give me clothes and food? I want to be in Vrindavan" he was thinking. At once, he saw a bird who gave an egg, it fell from the tree and when it broke on the earth a very little baby bird came out, blind and with no wings, about to die and so hungry, it's mother wasn't there, so it was all alone. At once a very little soft insect with little wings sat on the juice of the egg and tried to fly, but it became stuck and the baby bird could eat. The young man saw if even the little bird has been given food by the Lord, then surely Krishna will also give everything to me. So he trusted, and he went to Vrindavan, but he thought "who will support my children?", his false ego was thinking that he is the provider of everything. So we should try to develop this consciousness. Don't think you are the giver or the do-er. Krishna is giving everything so that life may go on. He looks after everyone. He gives the cows grass, the mothers milk, so He has given everything,and we should have very strong faith on Him. We should remember that He is more beautiful, more sweet, everything about Him is sweet, and go on developing your Bhakti for Him in this way";
9. "Even if you are doing evils, like Kamsa (demon), He is a pick-pocket, so expert at stealing, He will take our hearts";
10. "There was a blind man who used to collect alms as he went from town to town. One day, he went to a town with a stick in his hand and entered a courtyard, he was asking "please anyone give me something", but no one came and no reply came, not one sound. He tried to go out, but there was a wall and fencing there, it was 84,000 miles long, so big like a tunnel, so many years passed, and the blind man was walking trying to find his way out. Then a door came after so many years, the door was only 3 feet wide and 5 feet high, when the was there, the man was scratching an itch, and he missed the door. This world is like fencing, and from the beginning of creation suffering is coming, we want to come out from it, but some itching is coming, and Krishna has mercifully given you a door";
11. "Without a human body there is no chance of escaping, this chance is very beautiful, don't miss it, for you will lose everything. Don't lose your good fortune. Go to Krishna (God), or you will lose your chance. This human birth is so auspicious, you should try at once to make your life successful, chant and remember, begin today, at once, tomorrow you may be deaf, blind or die, so don't wait for tomorrow to come."
